styling your session
One of the biggest questions families have is what everyone should wear.
The good news? You don't have to figure it out alone.
You'll receive a personalised style guide, with help coordinating outfits for every member of the family. From selecting colours and sourcing pieces to putting together a complete look, I'll help create a cohesive wardrobe that photographs beautifully.
You'll also have access to my client wardrobe for mothers, featuring a collection of timeless dresses available to borrow for your session.
Whether we're working with pieces you already own or finding something new, every outfit is thoughtfully chosen to feel natural, comfortable and true to your family.

There is no pressure for children to sit perfectly still or smile on command. Instead, I work with your family as you are, gently guiding when needed while embracing the little moments in between.

What if my children don't cooperate?
Don't worry - children don't need to sit perfectly still, smile on command, or perform for the camera. My sessions are child-led and flexible, allowing space for personalities to shine while I gently guide your family throughout.
Where will our session take place?
Family sessions can take place in my Nelson studio, in your home, or at one of our beautiful outdoor locations. Together we'll choose the setting that best suits your family and the style of photographs you'd like to create.
What should we wear?
You'll receive a personalised styling guide, with support coordinating outfits for the whole family. Mothers also have access to my client wardrobe, featuring a collection of timeless dresses available to borrow for your session.
Can grandparents be included?
Absolutely. Extended family sessions can be arranged and are a beautiful way to preserve multiple generations together.
What if the weather is bad?
If your session is scheduled outdoors and the weather isn't suitable, we'll simply reschedule to the next available date.
How long does a family session take?
Most family sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes, allowing plenty of time for portraits, connection, play and all the little moments in between.
Do we need to know how to pose?
Not at all. I'll guide you throughout the session, creating natural and flattering photographs while ensuring everyone feels comfortable and relaxed.
